How to Survive The Bad Economy without a Job

The economy is in a very bad slump, and this is causing numerous companies to go out of business. This creates more hardship for the workers who are laid off when these companies close. On top of not having a job, prospects for finding new ones is even more difficult since there are less companies in business. Those companies which are still in business are probably cutting down on their own workforce in order to keep from folding themselves. This creates a catch 22 for anyone who is out of a job. After all, how can he survive in such a bad economy if you don’t even have a job?

The truth is it will be difficult, but if you’re determined to make it through you can. The first thing you need to do of course, is cut out any and all spending. For your survival. If you’re able to reduce your living expenses, such as moving to a cheaper home or reducing your utility bills, do that to.

Keep looking for a job. Any job. Even a part-time job is better than nothing at all. Just because you accept a part-time job, or even a low-paying job, does not mean you are locked into it forever. You can simply work there to pay eBay spills while you’re looking for something better.

Keep applying for jobs. Even if you secured yourself a part-time job, keep putting and applications for better jobs, and particularly full-time jobs. In fact, you could even find yourself with multiple part-time jobs which pay more than one full-time job is.

Reuse anything you can. The concept of recycling and reusing things is not usually thought of as a way to reduce your expenses, but it is an excellent tactic which can help tremendously. Save any extra food for example, and have a potluck leftover dinner once or twice each week.

You can even make some extra money by collecting things other people are throwing away. By recycling simple items such as old furniture, you can sell them in a yard sale or on eBay, and make some extra money. This works best if you refurbish the items you’re recycling first.

Look for ways to make extra money online or around your neighborhood. Offered yourself as a local handyman for example, do some basic yard care, or hired yourself out as a babysitter to neighbors.
